Bush decides to employ Saddam's torturers in Iraq

OK, so let me get this straight. At the beginning of the war we were told that Iraq had to be invaded and conquered because Saddam had lots of very bad weapons that could kill all of us here in the west.

When that turned out to be false the neo-fascists then told us that we had to invade Iraq in order to liberate the brave iraqi people from the brutal oppression of Saddam's evil regime, characterised by his notorious torture chambers and numerous prisons.

And now we hear that the US authorities in Iraq are now employing Saddam's old torturers in order to extract what little information they can from usually innocent iraqi men who have mistakenly been identified as enemy insurgents.

"IRAQI security forces, set up by American and British troops, torture detainees by pulling out their fingernails, burning them with hot irons or giving them electric shocks, Iraqi officials say. Cases have also been recorded of bound prisoners being beaten to death by police."

So Mr Bush, as you are crossing off another item from your list of reasons to tell the US public why we needed to attack Iraq, what's the next one on your list? That war is good for the economy? That war makes men out of boys? Or is it simply that word that starts with O, ends with an L and has an I somewhere in the middle? No surely not. Karl must have told you to delete that one from the beginning, I bet.
