Rove is a criminal! - But where are the headlines????

This is just typical of the MSM. We have here a very serious situation. One that's worthy of every newspaper headline in the country.

From all the different reports that have been coming out in the press, it's now become clear that Rove is the one who leaked Valerie Plame's name to the press in 2003. The blogosphere already knew this when it came out. But the MSM has understandably been rather reluctant to talk about this. Especially when you know the power that Rove yields in Washington. Finally they are talking about it, albeit in ways that still camouflage the degree to which Rove is guilty. CNN, for example, finish their article on it today by quoting White House mouth McClellan as saying that he doesn't want to comment on the situation because the investigation is still ongoing. (Remember the first rule of propaganda-journalism: you can fill the article with elements of the truth but always finish it with your required spin. In this case it's not the first impression but the last one that the reader takes home with them)

So now the situation is this: The chief political advisor of the President of the USA has been caught red-handed committing an act of treason. Literally. After all, you can go to jail for up to 10 years if found guilty of deliberately exposing the identity of someone working for the US intelligence service. (Kind of makes you look bad too huh Dubya?)

So Rove is guilty. We all know that now. Of course, republicans will try to convince us that there is nothing further from the truth but to those of us who have followed this from the very first day, there's no doubting his guilt. Especially when you know how Rove acquired his power in the first place, i.e. by completely screwing over the people who stood in his way, usually in illegal ways. Check out the excellent film "Bush's Brain" for further info.

You would think then that all headlines would be screaming this out on the front pages. Something like: "Presidential Advisor suspected of treason!" or "Whitehouse Guru implicated in Plamegate scandal!" Nothing of it.
Instead we get a non-descript title from our beloved "Be the last to know" CNN: "White House won't comment on Rove and leak investigation"

Your homework for this week:
1. Understand fully the gravity of what Rove has done, how he has harmed the USA.
2. Try to find a single headline in the MSM that conveys the seriousness of this.
Good luck.

Actually, the issue is all over the MSM. And Rove is getting flamed, as is Scott McClellan.

Finally yes. Although if you look at most of the articles, they're clearly trying to minimise the damage to Rove's name. CNN's article today ends with a claim that he's just the victim of partisan political attacks (after astutely pointing out that senators Kerry and Clinton believe Rove should go). True to MSM tactics, always ending their articles with the spin that minimises damage to the government. It'll be interesting to see what the final outcome of this whole story is.
